Independent expenditures are reported to the FEC by the spending committee, not by any campaign, and are keyed here to each member's own candidate ID; spending about a member's opponent is never shown as spending about the member. Contributors are the committee's own Schedule A receipts at their latest amended version, net of refunds, named only at $50,000 or more per cycle, and collected only for the committee-cycles the collector selected: the committee registered as a super PAC or hybrid PAC with an unauthorized designation in that cycle and its spending concerning one sitting member reached $50,000 in it (a cycle can fail the registration test while exceeding the amount); names, types, employers and locations are as the committee filed them, and the FEC entity code is the filer's own classification, so an organization is sometimes filed as an individual.
