About this directory
The US Federal Government Directory is published by Chatari, Inc. It is a reference work built from public records: who serves, what they voted, who funds them, and what they disclosed.
Who is responsible
Chatari, Inc. owns and operates the site and pays for its data collection and hosting. Corrections and questions go to corrections@pelicanorange.com; press inquiries to press@pelicanorange.com. No person or organization is credited as an author on any page because no page is written by one; see how pages are made below.
Where the facts come from
Rosters, roll-call votes, committee assignments, bills, campaign finance, financial disclosures, and district demographics come from the official sources listed on the methodology page: the House Clerk and Senate roll-call records, Congress.gov, the Federal Election Commission's bulk files and API, the House and Senate disclosure portals, and the U.S. Census Bureau. Each profile table links to the record it was taken from.
How pages are made
Every page is generated by software from those records. Collection, matching, and page assembly are automated, and some summary prose is drafted with the help of language models from the collected records. Figures are checked by an automated gate before each release (reproducible rebuild, official vote records compared row by row, publication rules on donors), and by independent code and content reviews, the most recent on October 1, 2026. People, not software, decide the publishing rules, review the findings, and approve each release.
Limits
Campaign-finance figures are net of refunds from the FEC bulk files and were reconciled row by row against the previous release on 2026-10-02; the bulk files omit a small number of memo entries the FEC's own site shows, so individual totals can differ by hundreds of dollars from an FEC search, and every donor table says where its figures come from. "Not listed" and "not retrieved" mark gaps honestly rather than filling them. Coverage of staff, family, and outside spending is partial and dated on each page. The corrections log records every published error we have found and fixed.
Money and privacy
The site carries no advertising and sells no data. It runs on voluntary tips through the tip jar. The pages we publish contain no tracking scripts of our own; the content delivery network may collect aggregate, cookie-free traffic statistics, as described on the terms and privacy page.
