Corrections

Every figure on this site comes from a public record. Profile tables link to the record; derived pages (donors, holdings, districts) cite the committee, filing, or dataset they draw on. Finance figures come from a reconciled rebuild of the FEC bulk files (see methodology); the reconciliation counts and every figure that moved are recorded there and in the repository. When we get something wrong, we fix it fast and say so here.

How to report an error

Email corrections@pelicanorange.com with the page URL, the figure you believe is wrong, and the source that contradicts it. A link to the source record is ideal.

What happens next

We acknowledge every report within one business day. We correct the figure or explain why it stands within seven days. For material corrections, we leave a dated note on the affected page describing what changed.

Newest first. Only material corrections are listed; typographical fixes are not.

DatePageCorrection
All donor tables, donor pages, PAC and outside-money sectionsFinance rebuild corrected after independent review: each itemization's amended versions are now resolved within its own report, so two gifts that share a transaction ID in different reports are both counted (Dakota PAC to Cruz, 2024: $10,000, not $5,000); entity, type, recipient and memo rules are applied only after the amended version is chosen; super PAC receipts attach to a donor page only when the filing identifies the same contributor by name and ZIP code, not by name alone (two $1,000,000 gifts by a Michael Smith of Broomfield, Colorado, had been shown on the page of a Michael Smith of Chevy Chase, Maryland); and the reconciliation now covers PAC contributions, independent expenditures, joint fundraising allocations, leadership PAC matches and super PAC receipts, each movement with its source transactions.
All donor tables and donor pagesDonor data rebuilt from the FEC bulk files with amendments resolved before exclusions and all refunds to individuals netted (51,075; the previous build netted 80), then reconciled row by row against the previous release: 430 named rows changed, 758 dropped, 592 added, 1,263 figures moved by more than $1,000; rows withheld as under verification fell from 12,028 to 2,881. The provisional notices that accompanied finance figures since 2026-10-01 are removed. Outside money, PAC contributions, and leadership PAC matches were rebuilt the same day; leadership PACs are now identified for 458 members (340 before).
Super PAC pages, member profiles, donor pagesAdded a page for each of the 370 committees whose independent expenditures concerning a sitting member reached $50,000 in the 2024 or 2026 cycle, listing every member the committee spent for or against and its contributors of $50,000 or more per cycle, and a hub ranking the committees and their largest contributors. Committee names in the Outside money tables and in the Super PAC contributions tables on donor pages now link to those pages; the FEC record link is kept beside each row. No figure changed.
Roll-call votes and profilesAll 45 roll calls (27 House, 18 Senate) are now built from the official XML shipped with the site, and every profile's voting table is projected from the same record. 31 profile rows that disagreed with their roll-call page were corrected, including the Speaker's positions on H.Con.Res. 86 and 89, and 105 rows for votes taken before a member's service began now read "Not in office". Party labels on vote pages come from the official roll as of the vote, not the member's current affiliation.
Roll-call votesRebuilt all 31 roll-call vote records from official House Clerk and Senate XML. Two Senate results were corrected: roll 37 (Feb 12, H.J.Res.142) now shows Passed 49-47 (was Failed 47-47); roll 84 (Apr 16, H.J.Res.140) now shows Passed 50-49 (was Failed 49-49). House roll 199 (Jun 3) positions corrected: Speaker Johnson now shows Nay (was Not Voting); Thomas Kean and Dusty Johnson now show Not Voting (were Nay). Headline totals now come from the official XML, not from counting table rows. The 31 source XML files ship in data/enrich/roll_calls_xml/.
Member profilesLegal and ethics tables now render the stored type, description, date, outcome, and source fields. Previously all legal rows showed "Criminal" with blank description and outcome because the renderer read different field names. A presidential pardon is now labelled as such, not as criminal.
Donor pagesParty split figures now include only validated dollars (the same $0 to $14,000 guard as the headline). Previously 95 donor pages showed party breakdowns that included withheld amounts, e.g., a page headlined $100,600 showed a $140,600 party split. The split now equals the verified total.
Donor hubTop-donor hub cards no longer display a Python tuple representation. Each card now shows the same amount as its donor page, with a verification note when rows are under verification.
RankingsThe Most Liberal ranking now displays the source DW-NOMINATE score with its correct sign (e.g., Jayapal -0.61, not 0.61). The ranking order is unchanged; only the displayed value was corrected.
Donor hubThe "Donors to both parties" section now lists qualifying donors. It was empty because the flag tested for "Democratic" while the data uses "Democrat". The flag is now recomputed from actual recipient parties at render time.
All member profilesOutside money attribution fixed: independent expenditures are now attributed only to the member's own candidate ID. Previously, spending by groups about a member's opponent (e.g., super PAC spending opposing Adam Schiff's opponent) was incorrectly shown on the member's own page. Sitewide opposition totals dropped from $15.7B to $840M, within the $5.17B FEC independent-expenditure ledger total. Leadership PACs are now matched via the FEC sponsor candidate ID rather than name; unmatched leadership PACs render as "Leadership PAC not identified." Leadership PAC donor thresholds are now $50,000+ for individuals and $5,000+ for organizations and PACs.
All member profilesAdded Outside money sections: independent expenditures by super PACs and other groups (from FEC 24/48-hour reports and Schedule E filings), donors of $5,000+ to the member's leadership PAC, and joint fundraising committees with donors of $50,000+. A committee is marked single-candidate when 80% or more of its cycle independent-expenditure dollars concern one candidate. Donor pages now include a Super PAC contributions section for donors who gave $50,000+ to a super PAC. Every figure links to the committee's FEC page.
Adam SchiffJoint-fundraising shares (FEC transaction type 15J memo entries, the member committee's itemized share of joint-fundraising proceeds) are now included in donor totals; transfers from the joint fundraising committee itself are not separately counted. For ZUCKERMAN, DAVID the published figures are unchanged: $6,600 for 2024 and $1,000 for 2026 (the $1,000 2026 figure was live from 2026-10-01). No 15J memo entries for committee C00343871 appear in the FEC bulk files. FEC committee C00343871.
All member profilesFixed a donor-netting defect: type 22Y refund transactions were being subtracted even when the receipt they reversed had already been excluded as received in error, returned, or refunded. This produced false negative nets (e.g., a $100,000 wire received in error was correctly excluded, but its $100,000 return was still subtracted, yielding -$93,400). Refunds are now matched against excluded receipts and skipped when the original was never counted. Oppexp (Schedule B) refunds that duplicate an already-netted 22Y refund are also skipped to prevent double-counting.
Adam SchiffA donor total for ZUCKERMAN, DAVID was shown as $106,600. The correct 2024 net is $6,600: four itemized receipts totaling $6,600 from FEC bulk files, with a $100,000 wire received in error (2024-06-11) excluded and its $100,000 return (2024-06-14) also excluded. The page now carries a note documenting the returned wire. FEC committee C00343871.
All member profilesDonor data rebuilt from the full FEC individual-contribution bulk files (indiv24, indiv26), replacing the previous top-10 gross-receipt lists. Every itemized contributor to each member's principal campaign committee is now kept with a net-of-refunds total: Schedule B refunds are matched to the same contributor identity (full name, city, and ZIP, or employer when ZIP is missing) and subtracted, and receipts marked as received in error, returned, or refunded are excluded. Member profiles show the top 25 net donors per cycle with an expander for all named donors; donors are named only at $1,000+ net per member and cycle. Donor pages now cover contributors funding two or more members, with per-member nets, party split, and a both-parties flag. Figures below $0 or above $14,000 render as "under verification" with no number.
Adam SchiffA donor total was shown with an incorrect gross figure due to surname-only refund matching. The 2024 net for LEE MILLER is $6,600 after netting Schedule A 22Y refund transactions against itemized receipts. Corrected. All donor totals on the site were moved to net-of-refunds figures: Schedule A receipts marked as received in error, returned, or refunded are excluded, Schedule A 22Y refunds are netted, and Schedule B refunds to individuals are subtracted.
